Dismukes on Rimington watch list | Big Cat Weekend | Offseason blues
It’s certainly been a long while since my last blog post, but the offseason does these things to you. When there’s no football to talk about it’s hard to think of much to type but May hasn’t been all that bad. We’ve already seen a handful of recruits enrol, and are waiting for the final batch to do the same in June, we’ve seen some playoff talk, and what’s an offseason without some realignment fodder?
In more Auburn-related news, Sophomore centre Reese Dismukes has been named on the Rimington watch list for this season, an honour that I definitely think he deserves. He started all thirteen games last year as a true freshman and did a pretty good job. Even though the offensive line wasn’t exactly stellar, he maintained some consistency and made a ton of improvement as the season went on. I think he’ll surprise some people this year and make a push for that trophy, even though he’s got some tough competition.
The offensive line is a unit which I feel will improve massively this season, it simply must. Last years was a big contribution to our quarterback troubles, since none of our starters were natural scramblers (excluding Frazier). We’ll see what kind of headways Grimes can make with this unit, we know there is talent but what is their peak? I can’t wait until we find out.
‘Big Cat Weekend’ – one of the largest recruiting weekends in college football – recently happened and it’s seemed to have paid off yet again. Auburn nabbed a commitment from three star TE Arshad Jackson and also made some headway with other recruits as well. I don’t usually discuss recruiting on this blog, but I figured it needed posting. BCW was another huge success and is getting more and more popular every year.
This summer I’ll try and put out more posts like I did last summer, I’ll do a breakdown of the schedule in August and will make some predictions on how I think the team will do this season, as well as individual player feats.
Oh and in case you missed it, I did a feature on Philip Lutzenkirchen for College & Magnolia recently. Go check out the site if you haven’t come across it yet, it’s going to be huge.
That’s yer lot, ’till next time.
